Atkins Review

As an extension to my weightless weather post, I want to review the Atkins brand.

For a few weeks now, I have been testing Atkins' protein bars and even dabbed into some of their chocolates to fight cravings.

Here is what I've learned.

Since beginning the Atkins diet, I have learned the key to what makes Atkins doable.

Now, Atkins is a popular dieting option because it is often high in protein and low on sugar. For example, by Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bar has 16 grams of protein per bar, 1 gram of sugar, and 3 grams of Net Carbs. It also has high dietary fiber and potassium, but even more saturated fats and sodium. Nonetheless, each bar is jam-packed as many vitamins as you'll find in vita-gummies.

But what is it about Atkins that really works? Yes, the bars are super healthy, but they also have a strange side-effect that I became aware of after a few weeks.

I'm not expert, so I'm not sure what it is, but if I dare each a whole Atkins' protein bar or more than one chocolate treat, I am given a stomach ache.

I'm not kidding. When I eat too much of this stuff, it causes my stomach to get sick. It's similar to the feeling one gets when taking dietary pills and the pills are meant to knock out your hunger but cause a little stomach ache in the process. Now, it's not terribly uncomfortable at all, but it's enough to put off my hunger. I certainly don't want to eat more.

So is that good or bad? That's up to you. But for me, I think it's good. I now only eat half a protein bar once a day. It cuts the calories and helps shrink your stomach if that's an issue. I do advise that others also only eat half a bar at a time to prevent stomach discomforts. And as for those "Indulgent Treats" (the chocolates), eat one at most in a day or your stomach will feel funky.
