Weight Loss Weather
As the weather gets warmer, I seem to get my act together.

Maybe it's because school is slowing down, and maybe it's because I left seasonal depression in the departed snow. Either way, things are going well again.
Last summer is when I made my greatest effort to lose weight. I lost 47 pounds between April and August, and I'd never felt so good about myself.
How did I do it? I ran three miles every single day. I began paying attention to portion sizes and just focused on taking care of me.
However, when school started up again in August, I gained 30 pounds back. It really bummed me out and I just kept telling myself, hoping that it would be true, that when it got warm again I would get back into my health kick.
You see, over the school year, I would have class from 9 am to 3 pm, and then I would often work from 5pm to 10 pm. I went through my day starving myself or snacking unhealthily on candies to fill me up, and then I would finally get to have dinner after I'd get off of work at 9 or 10 pm
. It was such an unhealthy lifestyle and I was never happy with myself. But I was just too tired to push myself to get better. Instead, I pretended that I wasn't as horrific as I saw myself to be.
Disclaimer: I don't think that people have to be skinny to be happy. Absolutely not. All weights are beautiful. I believe everyone has a self image that they are happy with and one they are unhappy with. I simply want to be the healthiest and happiest I can be, and with the weight I'm at, I personally don't feel happy with myself.
A few weeks ago, I finally got into my health kick again. The snow has melted for the last time this Spring (Mid-April, like seriously? F*** snow), and the warm wealthy has given me my happy, healthy state of mind again.
I started eating healthily, first off. In the morning, I will eat 1 Eggo Waffle, one hard boiled egg, and one Cutie margarine. I'll wait two hours and then eat half of an Atkins protein bar. I chose the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bar, which has 16 G of protein, 3 G of net carbs, 1 G of sugar, and 6 G of fiber. The protein keeps me full so that when lunch comes around, I don't feel hungry and over eat. The protein from my hard boiled egg in the morning has the same affect, keeping me full. The eggo waffle and the carbs from the protein bar give me energy, and the cutie is some healthy sugar.
I eat breakfast at about 8:45, my snack at 10:45, and then lunch is 12:45. For lunch, I have a salad that I buy from Walmart (I'm lazy and they're cheap) and another cutie. The salad is only 240 calories but still a very nice size and comes with about 12 G of protein. I try not to use the entire salad dressing--only half is really necessary.
After another two hours, (2:45) I eat the other half of my protein bar. It really satisfies my hunger and keeps me from wanting too large of a dinner. I try to eat dinner between 6-7:30 (even if that means going past my two hour limit. I'm usually just not that hungry at that point and eating as early as five makes me want to snack at night.)
For dinner, I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible because of how long it takes them to digest. However, if I do eat carbs I'll make sure it's small. For example, I made chicken pot pies from scratch yesterday, so I ate a lot of pie crust, but it was thin and I made sure to stop eating as soon as I felt full.
My biggest self-rule is to never eat after 8 pm.
After two and a half
weeks, I've lost 7 pounds. It may not seem like a lot but it is and I'm very excited for what it will mean for me. I haven't gotten back into running yet, but I hope to as soon as finals are over. That should help push me forward and also to tone my body as much as possible.
My biggest goal is NOT to gain this weight back. It truly is like everyone says--it's a lifestyle change.
